ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least 21 years of age
  2. Experience working with children
  3. Valid driver’s license
  4. Fingerprint screening

 

REPORTS TO

High School Principal

 

SUPERVISES

Coaches and students through coaches or directly.

 

JOB GOALS

The position entails providing building supervision of after-school athletics for students.  These activities are limited to those activities sanctioned by the District and do not include supervision of adult use of school facilities.  The position may be held by any employee concurrently working for the District if the position's requirements do not substantially interfere with the employee’s regular duties.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Organizes and administers interscholastic activities for the high school and middle school.
  2. Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
  3. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
  4. Provides leadership in the selection, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
  5. Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
  6. Attend and assist the local booster’s club in supporting and promoting athletics in the community.
  7. Recruit and support volunteers to work with athletic programs.
  8. Hires officials, medical personnel, and policemen, as required, and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
  9. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget.
  10. Oversees purchasing and inventory of all supplies and equipment.
  11. Supervises all ticket sales and fundraising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for the proper handling of funds.
  12. Arrange field and gym practice schedules.
  13. Verifies each athlete's eligibility for participation in each sport.
  14. Ensures the physical examination of athletes to meet District Policies before the beginning of each season.
  15. Administers the insurance program covering school athletes and assume responsibility for all processing of reports and claims.
  16. Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.
  17. Arranges all details of visiting teams' needs, including lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate.
  18. Work with the after-school Program (FACES) to facilitate communications and a cooperative nature between the two programs in regard to the athletic facilities
  19. Keeps records of the results of all athletic contests, and maintains a file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award including athletic scholarships.
  20. Plans and supervises any annual recognition program for school athletes.
  21. Other duties as assigned by the building principal.

 

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is part-time and is classified similarly to coaching positions within the District. The general time period would be from July 1st through June 30th of each year, not to exceed 600 hours per year.

 

EVALUATION

The High School Principal will evaluate the performance of the responsibilities of this position annually.
